The Keep · the record reader

Read a document

Bring the reader a document — paste its words, or add a picture of it: a family-tree screenshot, a census page, an obituary scan. The reader finds the family in it — who’s already in the record, and who’s missing. Nobody is added without your yes, and everyone you approve lands in your keep: you answer for who you let in.

A tree screenshot works best one branch at a time, zoomed in — small print reads as smudges. Up to ten pictures per reading — though a few branches at a time keeps each reading easy to check. If a record ID is readable in the picture (on FamilySearch it’s the small gray code like KWZQ-1B7 on a person’s card or detail panel — the far-out tree view doesn’t print them), the reader keeps it as a live link on the new card.
The reader only nominates. New people arrive penciled in — dashed, sourced to this obituary, waiting for the family to ink them.
A document is something the family put in print — its people arrive marked reliably documented, sourced to the very page you brought.
The reader can be wrong; that’s why you approve each name, and why every add can be put back.
